David Allison is one of the few metal spinners still working in Sheffield, he is known by everyone that works in metal and is a master craftsman. David spun the rim and had it plated at one of the last silver platers left in the city, he then past the rim to me and I turned the Sapele hollow form to fit the rim.

It is one of the first pieces to be created within the Call and Response project and shaped the form of engagement with other artists; we pass pieces of work between us and do not discuss what we’ll do. Call and Response is a collaborative project based on trust and a high degree of integrity.
