This piece of yew has travelled just a few metres since being felled in a neighbours garden. Yew grows with a very irregular shape, which when turned gives rise to bark inclusions and openings, in this piece, these qualities have been put to use to develop a piece of interest.

Underneath the bark once it had been turned into a regular shape, it revealed that the tree had been pruned and the trunk grew around the straight cut - reminding us that tress are living objects and are lived-with objects. A beautiful piece because of its imperfections and due to the care taken in its making?
